I hate conventions.

I hate them, because I don't care HOW excited or angry you are, people, I don't approve of shouting while one is speaking.

This is why I don't like the big bible-thumping, shouting evangalists either.

Maybe it's a Scandinavian-Minnesotan thing. I can't listen to the speeches--I have to read the transcripts.

There's no cause for shouting.

I don't even like the uproar of the applause.

Oh, and I'm slightly perturbed because the RNC is royally f*cking up a lot of things in my fair city.

I know you're trying to make a point, but don't have a Republican convention in a primarily Democratic state. It's stupid. It's asking for trouble.

And then there's more shouting.

I hate shouting.

Well, I come from a state of shouters, and while I'm not big on straining my vocal cords I think I've caught on to why louder is perceivably better. In the minds of the ignorant, if you're louder than the people you're arguing with, you're the one who is right. If you can shout over a person you are the ultimate winner of every argument known to God and man. Shouting equals authority.

I guess.

See... I think you "win" in your own mind...but perhaps not the mind of the other person.

Eh, who cares anyway, as long as you think you're right.

I guess I grew up in a family where I never heard anyone raise their voice to another (save to yell at us kids to settle down) so I'm just not used to it and it makes me highly agitated.

I'm with you.

I found myself wishing that when each party posts the speeches, they could post versions with all the breaks for applause/cheers/shouting/whatever edited out. That would rock.

I think they had versions like that of the Obama speech. It was a little strange because: 1. He was shouting in a room without noise. 2. He looked awfully funny in the breaks for applause just kinda standing there.

People. People. I'm going to turn this convention around right now if you don't settle down and listen quietly!
