1. So I fall victim to the one-more-chapter syndrome last night. You know what this is..."I should go to bed RIGHT NOW, but just one more chapter..." As a result, I woke up late today. Not horrifically late, but late enough for Derrick to leave for work before me (rare).

2. Then I discover that somehow, my car door has been open all night (trust me when I say, this is not something I did--accidentally or otherwise). Consequently, the battery is drained and the vehicle won't start. I'm ignoring the fact that it's pretty disturbing that my door is randomly wide open. Nothing is missing, per se, just kinda messed around with. I'll worry about that later.

3. None of my trusted neighbors are home (and I'm not the type to solicit help from one I don't know--stupid, but there you have it). My boss offers to pick me up, then immediately takes it back. Derrick has meetings all morning that he can't get out of. None of our close by friends are home this morning. Gee, they all have jobs, go figure.

4. No biggie...I can just work from home. Except that last night I made the conscious decision to leave my laptop at the office. I was NOT going to do any work last night and the bag was deemed too heavy to lug from work to home yet again. So no working from home.

My boss tells me to take a sick day and trade in my next-Monday off. No can do, I'm babysitting the niece. It's non-negotiable. So my boss calls AAA for me and pays the $60 to have a jump start.

I, of course, feel like a complete moron...even though technically it's not my fault.

5. I hate going into work late. It f's up the whole dang day.

Dang...that IS a bad day! And so creepy to know a stranger was sitting in your car. Hope your day does nothing but improve from here!

It IS a little creepy, but this kind of thing isn't completely unknown in our neighborhood. People get into cars mainly looking for drugs (all the little compartments will be opened, but nothing else will be disturbed...unless it's cash laying around in the car). I mean, I had my iPod sitting on my front seat, and they didn't touch that.

Then again, maybe I'm in shock--everyone around me, including the husband, is far more freaked out about the person in the car thing than I am.
