I found this in the ladies' restroom in the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport. I saw it, then had to go up to my boss and beg him to lend me his iPhone so I could snap a picture--so sorry for the poor quality...camera phones and all...

Right sentiment, wrong message. (On a side note, if you're going to post a public protest, please get tenses and capitalization CLOSE to what they're supposed to be, yah?) I think there are plenty of reasons to be perturbed and regretful about the leader in question that don't involve taking off my shoes or throwing away my shampoo at the airport (only the latter of which really bothers me in the slightest).

But really...posting this on the toilet paper dispenser in the ladies' room at the airport? Not that anyone minds a little reading material, but the next time I went into the bathroom it had already been torn partially off. Seems a little, well, passive-aggressive and just not that effective as a lasting statement. And again, I can be mad at Bush for plenty of things (and very, very frequently am), but I just can't muster up that much ire over taking my shoes off.

It was probably placed there to capitalize on the frustration that most people experience just simply being in an airport. While it could have been improved by someone who is better with the written word, it was still a clever idea.

I've certainly noticed that the people that tend to be MOST frustrated by the airport policies are the people that travel the LEAST. Because I travel so frequently, it gets VERY annoying to be held up by righteous indignation when the person in front of me just cannot believe that they HAVE to take their shoes off *huff*.

I probably shouldn't be so complacent. It should probably bother me MUCH more that I have to take my shoes off, that I can't carry more than 3 oz of my personal care products on the plane (I can't tell you how often I've inadvertently left liquids in my bag and they've NEVER even caused a blip on the radar, so I can't imagine that this is an effective method of curtailing nefarious activity in the first place), etc. It just seems that these personal liberties are slipping, and it's easier to just comply than to put up a fight about it (or a sign).

And now this has turned into something entirely different, so I'll shut up now...

Someone on Southside has considered it their civic duty to stick anti-Bush stickers all over street signs. I hardly think it will cause the new Revolution.

No matter how much I support the message, my prudish self just cannot support vandalism--if only on principle that it's downright rude to mar property that isn't one's own.
