I should not:

Laugh at my husband.

For falling down the stairs.

Twice.

In one day.

While 100% sober.

And breaking his foot.

The foot thing, I actually feel bad about. I'd feel worse about it if he weren't such a stubborn guy--refusing to ice it, wrap it, or go to the doctor for it. I convinced him to take some ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and such, and that's pretty much all I can do--he's a big boy.

Ouch!

I'd probably be a little more unrestrained about getting the broken foot treated -- for one thing, I wouldn't want to become responsible for carrying him around when it heals improperly.

Heh, poor guy. You can't help that it's funny!

To be fair, he did ask a physical therapist friend about it, and he let my mom (who is a nurse) look at it. The consensus is pretty much that he can't really DO anything about it since it's broken in a weird place (the second toe's first bone inside the main foot area), save for wrapping and icing.

The worst part about it is that I laughed before asking if he was okay. At least the second time I had the good sense to restrain myself and put the "look of concern" on my face before busting out laughing.

Okay, I have to know: did he break the first on the first or second fall? Because if it was on the second then you can't be blamed, but if he fell with a broken foot and you laughed, then you're mean. ;)

It could have been just sore the first time, but I think he broke it the first time, and just worsened the condition the second time.

The first time I heard the telltale "someone fell down the stairs" noise and just started laughing...I couldn't help it. It was sheer slapstick reflex!

Okay, I'm mean.

Actually broken ? Bummer.

If he hasn't already - take him to the ER (by force if necessary).

Its perfectly acceptable to laugh - when he does something silly (like forgetting how to walk)

Well, the ER won't really be able to do anything, save for charge us a lot of money to tell him to wrap it and ice it.

Funny thing--the second time he fell down the stairs, he was trying to avoid walking on the sore foot. Whoops.

*trying really hard to stifle giggles at work*

He broke it, though? That bites. Tell him he needs to drink more so he won't fall down the stairs!

Umm . . . I have his cookies! Those might make him feel better! You could stop by after work and get them if you like . . .

Have you considered wrapping the staircase in bubble wrap before he gets home?
