I finished Veronica Mars.

I'm sad that it was so short. Not Firefly short, but still. There were places to go with it, yet.

It's weird watching canceled shows years after they've been canceled. The righteous indignation is fresh, but the wound is old and any other fans have already dealt with it by now.

I started re-watching Star Trek: TNG (a girl's gotta watch something while scanning massive quantities of old pictures, and it feels like I've seen TOS much more recently).

I forgot about the DeForest Kelley cameo in the pilot.
Not many things have been making me overly emotional in pregnancy (I expected more burst-into-tears moments by now, frankly), but the cameo made me tear up. "She'll always get you home."

Weirdest emotional outburst yet.

So what else should I watch (that might be new to me)? I've never seen Voyager or Deep Space Nine or Enterprise. Or maybe there's another show that I can become attached to years after its premature cancellation (*sigh* Firefly). I really enjoyed the smartness and lightness of Veronica Mars.

Have you watched Fringe? I like that show.

Also Supernatural (the first five season). They are both x-files like shows.

Freaks and Geeks is more like Veronica Mars, though there isn't any detective agency.

Finally, one of my favorite shows of all time is Pushing Daisies.

Oh man. If anyone wants cancellation-outrage, watch Freaks and Geeks.

I LOVED Pushing Daisies. Stupid writer's strike.

Freaks and Geeks--I was trying to think of that one. I haven't seen that OR Fringe OR Supernatural. Woot!

If Freaks & Geeks aren't on Netflix, I have them on DVD. It is one of the best shows on TV. I was so upset when it was cancelled.

If you liked Pushing Daisies, you might like Hannibal. Yeah, it was about Hannibal Lector but it is done by Brian Fuller. So, completely disturbing in a prettiest way possible.

Oooh, it's on Netflix.

I heard about Hannibal when it first came out but then I just sort of...forgot about it.

I stopped watching DS9 before it got good. Many people argue it's the best.

Smart and light? What about Angel? It has it's dark times, of course.

I might give DS9 a shot. It can't be worse than a lot of other things.

I should get back to watching Angel. I watched 100% of Buffy and then started in on Angel and while I liked it a lot, I felt like I needed to take a break from the 'verse at the time.

I have a soft spot for both continents version of Being Human

Sticking with the SciFi, there's Farscape, a show much better than it first appears.

And for animation, Venture Bros. It's worth getting through the first few bleah episodes until they add a few characters and start dropping Bowie references.
I wish I could watch it fresh all over again.

I always forget about Venture Bros. I've been meaning to watch it on your suggestion.

So my issue, it would seem, is not finding things to watch, but remembering what I'm supposed to watch NEXT.

Farscape sounds promising. Have you seen Battlestar Galactica? I've been told I would probably like that too.

I only saw the first two seasons of BSG. I've heard mixed comments about the rest so I never got motivated to continue.

VB is a great show. They aren't really comparable, but Archer has more laughs. Venture Bros is more arty with a greater mythos. But both play on hackneyed tropes. Spy stories vs boy adventure stories.

Speaking of Archer? Did you ever watch Frisky Dingo?

As for comedy, what about IT Crowd?

I forgot about Frisky Dingo, too!

Clearly I have plenty to watch, I'm just completely unable to recall it in the moment when I have to pick a new show.

I remember liking Voyager and DS9, though never watched them religiously. I only saw an episode or so of Enterprise.

I still need to watch Veronica Mars. I'm told I would probably like the show.

If you have't seen it, I'd also recommend The West Wing. I also really liked the UK show Coupling that was done by current Doctor Who head Stephen Moffett

You would probably like Veronica Mars. It's pretty darn great, actually.

I have not seen West Wing yet either. I did watch Coupling a LONG time ago (liked the UK version, thought the US version was a weird fit).

I still think Coupling is possibly one of my favorite shows of all time. The US one suffered from terrible acting and changes to the script.

The West Wing is amazing, especially in the early few seasons. A lot of it was the fact that we were watching a tv show where liberal Martin Sheen was president while we were suffering under the unelected George Bush. It was 50% wish fulfillment there at times.

I did like The Office (the UK version) and Blackadder.

Voyager is my fave of them all. I'm working my way through now (again), in Season 4. Going to do DS9 next.

It's weird to remember that McCoy, Spock, and Scotty all show up in TNG.

It's weird and really cool. I remember LOVING Scotty's cameo in particular (he always used to say things would take twice as long as they actually did so that it would seem like he was a miracle-worker). The DeForest Kelley (McCoy) cameo is extremely subtle--he doesn't look the same at all and they don't mention his name--but it's also really *sniff* powerful. :)

I think Deep Space Nine is awesome but has some clunky bits here and there to get through, much like TNG in quality. I feel kind of the opposite about Voyager - I think it was kind of mediocre as a whole but it had some really great episodes here and there. Enterprise I find hard to judge since by the time it came around I was out of the trek-obsessed phase of my youth. It had some good bits, in any case.

Yeah, I'm over the large majority of my Trek super-fangirling, so I'm not quite sure how I would take to watching the other series. (Though I feel like I SHOULD watch DS9 and Voyager...to at least be a bit of a completest. I've heard very mixed reviews about Enterprise, but I do love Scott Bakula.)

For me, TOS and TNG are like warm, cozy blankets. Watching those episodes taps back into something extremely comforting. I'm pleased that they have--for the most part--held up for me as I've re-watched the series in adulthood.
