Telemarketer fail

pen_gruntI got a call on my cell phone. When I answered a guy started talking, sounding like he was in a pit of pets and kids.
Him: Hello. Is this Maria.... Lozando?... Lozano? ... Lorenzo?
Me: I'm sorry, I think you have the wrong number.
Him: Did I dial 555-5555?
Me: Yes, that's the number you dialed.
Him: Oh. So I have the right number but the wrong name. Okay.
Me: Yeah, sorry. (I always apologize to wrong-number callers. Not sure why. Might be a Minnesotan thing.)
Him (launching right on in): I'm calling because your name has been entered in the Publisher's Sweepstakes for a prize drawing...[blah, blah, blah, blah] and you have been selected because you've been such a great customer...
Me [catching him in a pause]: Well, for one, my name hasn't been entered because you had the WRONG name, and I can't be a great customer if you don't actually know who I am. So please do not call this number again.
Him: Oh...wow... [laughing] Hey. You're really awesome.
Me: Okay buh-bye now.
I understand that they're not supposed to go off script, but you think he would have flipped it to "number" instead of name after figuring out that I wasn't the person he was trying to reach.
My number must have gotten out somewhere. I used to get ZERO telemarketer calls. I got four yesterday and one this morning already. WTF?
