For later

Later I will tell all the details around the travel debacle of yesterday/today.
It involved getting off a plane at 6:15 a.m., getting to my sister's house at 7:30, and running a 5k on about 45 minutes (non-contiguous) of sleep after 15 hours of being tied up in travel.

It was thing after thing.

Fucking Delta.

Oh, I got a 25.54 on the 5k. I don't know if that's good or not. A few of the pro-runners in the race told us not to worry about our times because the course was actually longer than a 5k. My brother-in-law said that I would have made his cross country team, though. I DID have to walk a bit for maybe a minute because...oh god. I had been having cramps on the plane anyway (weird searing rib pain) that surfaced during the race. I felt bad for slowing my sister down. I was all, "Continue on without meeeee! Tell everyone I love them if I don't make it back!" but she stuck by me and we worked up to pace again quickly.

But for now, nap.

That's most certainly a good time, especially for someone who is a casual run/walker. Congrats :)

Thanks! I was pretty happy with it overall...except for that one walking part...but I can't be super-hard on myself for that.

Man, I can't believe you ran that on such little sleep. I can't decide if it was impressive or just nuts. Thumbs up either way!

(p.s. At some point you've really gotta switch to a bike. It's so much better than running. I still wouldnt have done a race after 45 minutes of sleep, but it would have been more palatable.)

Totally nuts. I couldn't believe I was doing it as I was doing it, but I had already committed. At that point, though, I had gone past sleepy into awake-again and kinda giddy.

I would love to bike. I need a helmet and a decent bike, though.

25:54 is a rather good 5K time.
I'm generally just under 28:00 on my dailies...

I don't run anywhere close to that fast on my daily runs. I think this was a fluke brought about by my sister pushing me.
