Days like these remind me that everything is renewed and cleaned and refreshed in the spring. It's a sort of drippy-grey kind of spring day. . .but it's the first "real" rain we've had since last fall.

My crocuses are happy (well, except the ones that were underneath the garbage can, they're yellowed and squished).

My daffodils are happy.

Even my tulips are poking up.

Days like these really make me appreciate living in Minnesota where there are truly four full, diverse seasons.

...and then my front steps collapse. *sigh* They've been worn away by salt and ice and winter, and my cousin broke them yesterday. Now we must build new ones. By "we" I mean Derrick. My role is purely supervisory. :)

There are four seasons?? Well whaddya know...

Here in SoCal, we get spring (5 months) and summer (7 months) on an endless loop.

But I know what you mean: I would love 10 days of winter with snow a year.

I sort of both envy and pity Californians for their weather in alternating cycles.

Fall is truly glorious in Minnesota.

Ahh, but you have Fall-appropriate trees. We have evergreens and palm trees, for which Autumn means nothing.

Hey - be fair . . . it was actually two days ago . . . And, much as it pains me to defend him, they *were* already basically broken . . . just being held together by frost or something . . .

Trust me, you don't want this particular cousin fixing . . . well . . . much of anything. To be blunt.

Well, considering that there was a big hole underneath them (so big that we had a feral cat living in them all winter) I can't really blame the cousin too much :)

How was he supposed to know that we've been hopping over that step all winter? *grin*

Though now our house looks truly, truly ghetto.

Yes . . . yes, it does. Or, at least the front steps, anyway . . .

I know...I know... I am working on it. I drew up the plans yesterday, got them approved by the boss last night, and now it is just getting the materials and the construction. Next I will have to fix the other front steps and eventually the back ones. Who built these things in the first place?

Oh great, I've resorted to blog-nagging.

It's about the most passive-aggressive nagging that one can do. I think I've achieved new heights--even for a Scandinavian Minnesotan!

That's SO NOT what I was trying to do, by the way.

But I enjoy being referred to as "the boss" :)
