I love that whenever we get together and play games in our immediate family, my sister, mother and I usually end up laughing until we cry at some point. Usually this is instigated by my mother. It's lovely, and my stomach hurts.

Easter: Good.
Watching a 1982 animated version of "The Wizard of Oz" and part of "Smurfs and the Magic Flute": Better.
Seeing all the 1985 commercials in between: Best.

My mother is also starting to become snarky. I think she's picking it up from my sister.

Well, we were talking about Purim being a cooler holiday than Good Friday or Easter. I commented, "Jeesh, Ma, why couldn't you have raised us Jewish--they have all the fun holidays."

To which she replied, "What makes you think you'd go to synagogue? You don't go to church now."

For a second, I thought maybe the Smurfs had done a version of this Magic Flute and was all confused. But then I realized that the Mozart would have required at least three female Smurfs (Papagena, Pamina, and the Queen of the Night), which pretty much would destroy the rules of Smurfdom.

Or at least lead to a really interesting Smurfbate about the validity of heterosexual marriage!

That version of Die Zauberflöte, by the way, is the very best one.
