Moderate Disappointment
Nov. 27th, 2007 12:11 pmWell, Anthony Bourdain did not come to fruition. Because we started out way late (and arrived ONLY 15 minutes before the reading), the space was already filled to capacity. I think my sister is going to seek out said object of desire at the Mall of America today (where he'll also be doing a book signing).
I'm a bit disappointed, but mostly relieved, I think.
Now I'm trying to work up the enthusiasm to put up the Christmas tree (we may or may not be hosting Christmas again this year). Half of me wants to put it up to prepare for the off-chance (or rather good chance) that hosting will fall back on us. The other half of me doesn't want to bother. Not because I'm in a bah-humbug mood, but because my Christmas tree MUST be lit so it can be seen from space. (Don't believe me? Ask my husband, who thinks I'm nuts. Seriously, you can't really look directly at the tree or take a successful picture for the radiant glow of happiness.) Weaving lights in and out of branches layer by layer as I'm building the tree (yeah, it's a fakie--wouldn't do it any other way...it would burst into flames if it were real with the number of lights I string on it) is a heck of a lot of work. It's a full day's worth of work, in fact, and I'm traveling 8 days between now and Christmas (maybe more).
Yes? No? Maybe?
