Out of actual costumes? Spiderman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Then there were the kids that went up to people's houses (the ones that didn't have lights on) banged and knocked and rang until someone came to the door, then screamed at the people and ran away.

Good riddance. Let Christmas officially begin.

Hey, at least you got trick or treaters. I had a bowl full of candy, all my lights on, and a heart eager for adorable children to come knock at the door....and I didn't get a single goddam one.

I think we live in one of those neighborhoods where kids aren't allowed to door-to-door like we did back in the day and just stick to people they know.

Not a single one? Sounds like when I was growing up. Our driveway was so long that kids didn't dare come down...even though we handed out full sized candy bars and such.

We ended up with about 100-150 kids. Since our neighborhood has a lot of kids to begin with (and is in a very densely populated part of Saint Paul) they came out in droves.

Our neighborhood has a lot of kids (In spring there's a freaking lemonade stand on every corner. I was going through, like $3, on each walk I took.) But we're in a middle to upper-middle class neighborhood that borders Edina. And if there's one thing I've learned about parents in this demographic, it's that they're a lot more neurotic and super-protective than parents in the neighborhoods where I grew up.

I didn't see ANY roving packs of small children on Halloween. Instead, there were a couple of cars that would pull up in front of specific houses, kids would get out, and then get right back into the car. Thumbs down.

It's also possible that the fact that our house sits on top of a hill might have had something to do with it. There's a bit of a climb involved.
