• I'm more than a little perturbed that they now have this so shortly after I bought all the seasons individually (though, granted, mostly with gift certificates). The Certified Nutjob in me really kinda wants all that extra bonus material. Anyone want to pay me $200 (reg $300) for the older complete series so I can buy the newer complete series for $304.99? No? Thought not. Screw.
• Still looking for a new 1-hour show to watch whilst running nightly. ST:TNG is almost over. I've already done ST:TOS, Little House on the Prairie, and a good majority/mix of CSI and Law & Order. I got the first two seasons of Quantum Leap. Hopefully that'll do for now. I'm considering:
Battlestar Galactica
ER
Queer as Folk
Rome
Deadwood
Sopranos
...but I know little-to-nothing about all but ER and Queer as Folk. Suggestions would be helpful here.
• Sorted through bunches and bunches of crap at my Grandma and Grandpa's house today. Marked stuff for the garage sale, managed to snag a few family things for myself. Mostly Swedish things: a Dala rooster, Tomte ornament, Swedish handkerchiefs, a hand-drawn picture of traditionally garbed Swedes taking a stroll in a line, and some old mother-of-pearl brooches. Stuff no one else really wanted enough to keep, but hey, I dig my Swedish heritage.
• In the rubble, we found a box filled with old checks, receipts, and paraphernalia. For instance: the bill of sale from my great-grandpa's farm (25 cents for a good, live chicken...about $100 for a horse, $8 a pig, $14-80 a cow/steer/calf), letters from my great-great grandpa to my grandmother, the check for my aunt's flute rental, and an old $5 gift certificate for The Dayton Companies, etc., etc. I brought it all home to scan it.
• Have to go to St. Louis tomorrow. So sleepy. Should take a few days off at the end of next week and the beginning of the week after--if only to steal my niece for some good auntie-niece spoiling-rotten time. That probably won't make me less tired, but it will put life back in perspective again. The niece does that nicely.
• I need to re-learn my link html codes. I knew at one point, now I've forgotten. Too lazy to look it up now thankyouverymuch.
Yes. Sleep now.

Date: 2007-09-24 02:18 pm (UTC)Rome was AWESOME!!!!! Deadwood was, too, but honestly, it took me a couple of episodes to acclimate myself to the severe profanity. I'm no delicate flower, but it was a bit much even for me. Once I got used to it, I came to really appreciate the fantastic dialog and grittiness of the whole thing, and the characters are great (loved Calamity Jane). And once you have watched Deadwood, it becomes very difficult to ever refer to fruit again simply as fruit - you will be tempted to call it "fucking fuit" for some time afterward.
