I'm purging my book collection of duplicates. A few of my co-workers already claimed some of my books (sorry if you wanted the Chronicles of Prydain or Catcher in the Rye), but here are those that I have left:

The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien -- Pretty beat up (but very readable) paperback edition.
Dragonflight, Anne McCaffrey -- Paperback, good condition.
Midnight for Charlie Bone, Jenny Nimmo -- Paperback, good condition. First in the series (it's like Harry Potter for younger readers).
The Couple's Devotional Bible -- Brand new, in-the-wrap paperback. We got this as a wedding gift from my parents' church. Rest assured, we have no use for it.
The House of the Seven Gables, Nathaniel Hawthorne -- Brand new paperback
The Nanny Diaries, Who Cares --Ex-libris Hardcover. Got it for a quarter...and it isn't worth keeping it. Ugh.
Series of Unfortunate Events Blank Book -- Just a little blank book
Addy Saves the Day, The American Girls Series -- Used Paperback
The Sun Also Rises, Ernest Hemingway -- Nice condition, Paperback
Otherland, Tad Williams -- Beautiful Hardcover, I think it's the first in a series. I have two HARDCOVER copies. Why am I dumb?
The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje -- Good condition paperback, movie cover
Ship of Destiny, Robin Hobb -- 2nd book in a series, ex-libris paperback
The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett -- Nice condition paperback
The Two Towers, J.R.R. Tolkien -- Excellent condition paperback
Schindler's List, Thomas Keneally -- Excellent condition paperback
The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas (say it with me...Alex-an-dre Dumb-ass?) -- Slightly beat up paperback
Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy, Jenny Nimmo -- Third in the series. Good condition Hardcover
Dover Thrift Editions (all paperback in good condition): Whitman Selected Poems, Longfellow Favorite Poems, Yeats Early Poems, Byron Selected Poems, Keats Lyric Poems, Wordsworth Favorite Poems, Shelley Selected Poems.
One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Dr. Seuss -- Hardcover, ex-libris, really rough shape
The Lady of the Sorrows, Cecilia Dart-Thornton -- Hardcover, ex-libris, good shape, second in a trilogy

All of these have my name and the date when I got them on the inside cover. I'm possessive like that, and I enjoy getting the "history" of a book when I buy it used, so I mark my own. If you want any of these (they're free!!!) speak up. It'd probably be best if you're local, but if anyone really wants something I'll ship it (if it's cheap). Otherwise they're going to Good Will on our next Good Will run, or I'm donating them to the MPLS Friends of the Library Bookstore (all proceeds from book sales go to...the library). Not a huge rush, but I'd like to get them out of the house.

I think most people just know them as "The Sword and the Stone" or somesuch. I'm surprised I didn't read them (or hadn't heard of the series of 5) until about 2-3 years ago. Certainly not at the time that I was supposed to read them.

It MUST have been my compelling and irresistible descriptions...

No seriously, if you want them they're yours for the taking...

I'll take Dragonflight, The House of the Seven Gables, The Sun Also Rises, Otherland, The Two Towers (the paperback copy I have is held together with a rubber band!), & The Three Musketeers - whichever aren't already taken . . . And you don't even have to ship them to me! *grin* And I'll trade you a couple seasons of TNG (i.e.: return them) in the process!

I'll set them aside. I'm taking Friday off (after working this entire weekend...no, seriously, my co-workers CAME TO MY HOUSE to work), wanna get together that night?

I'd be interested in the poetry. If you'd be interested in a trade, I have a paperback copy of Bakker's book, and there's a hardback at Mager & Quinn that I've been eyeing something fierce. So it'd be a great opportunity for me to have an excuse to upgrade.

I have no idea, by the way, why that photo of the book has a different title than the copy I have. It's supposed to have the title that's given in the description, not that "The Great Dinosaur Debate" thingy. Weird.

I'd be more than happy to trade!

Shady corner, trench coats, hushed hand offs and illicit books in the night?

Thanks! I'm assuming that "The Nanny Diaries" is the book on which the movie was based. I read a review of the movie and have no desire to see it, but the book sounded at least marginally interesting. How should I retrieve the books from you?

Well, I think we live relatively close to each other (I'm on Beech street right off of Johnson Parkway)--so we could do a pick up/drop off. Otherwise I work in downtown Mpls a block from the Central Library.

Or, you know, coffee shop after work. Not as exciting, but somewhat more practical. You live over across the river in Minneapolis Junior, right?

Tell ya what, why don't you email me (either to zachbuchan@yahoo or perfusionman@gmail) and we'll set something up. That'll probably be easiest.
