Jesus would...or would not.
Aug. 21st, 2007 09:18 amWWJD? Jesus would not steal my McDonalds, I'll tell you that.
On the way to the wedding Saturday, we had to stop and get snacks. We had to leave our house at 11:30 to be at the 2:00 wedding, and dinner wouldn't be served until 5:30. We planned in enough time to stop at a fast food joint and grab a bite so we wouldn't be famished--and also, so we wouldn't be forced to greedily consume communion wafers at the Catholic wedding like they were supposed to be real sustenance.
We pulled into the McDonalds drive through (yeah, it's supposed to be "thru", but I refuse...flat out refuse) behind a van. I will mention this now as a point of interest: there were people coming from the McDonalds and getting into the van...like they had just eaten there and were being picked up. Also worth mentioning, the unusually high amount of bumper stickers reading: WWJD?, Jesus Saves, Jesus [fish], and [man symbol] + [woman symbol] = marriage.
They pull in front of us and enter the drive through lane. We think they might be confused because they've just come from the store, and obviously they don't WANT to be in the drive through lane. Our confusion made us pay more attention to them than we normally might have. They pass by the order screen and pull up--not ordering anything. We order. They pass by the pay window, not paying for anything. We pay for our order. They pull up to the pick up window and.....
...wait for it...
TAKE OUR ORDER.
By the time we get to the pick up window, management is sort of confused--they've figured that something isn't right in the system and ask us if we (two people dressed for a wedding) actually ordered three happy meals (or some such kid-friendly thing). We replied that, no, we had the chicken nuggets and a snack wrap.
The window manager looks stunned...saying that he just gave the van in front of us our order. We confess that the van didn't actually order or pay for anything. Of course, McDonalds gives us the right order--they're not going to short us on food because someone else stole our order, but they're confused and mildly upset about it.
Just a hint for the people in the van: if you're aiming to live your life based on the principles of said person named Jesus and all, I'm pretty sure said person wouldn't steal our McDonalds. Just saying.
