ARGH! Monday, ARGH!

So I get up and it's Monday...and I'm disappointed in that. That, in itself, is not that unusual. Even though I do enjoy some parts of my job sometimes, being at home on the weekend is infinitely more enjoyable than being in the office on any day.

So I pack up my stuff, get in my car and start to drive. While I'm driving I'm progressively remembering all the things I've forgotten.

Oh crap, I forgot my fresh fruit (peaches!) that I was going to stick in my lunch thingie....oh well, I have canned peaches at work that I can have instead.

Oh drat, I forgot my new oatmeal, I'm out at work. Oh well, I can just buy some kind of breakfasting-stuff when I get my coffee.

OH HELL, I've forgotten my wallet. Now I'm going peach-less, breakfast-less (save for M&Ms and my Little Debbie snack cake emergency snack stash) and, more importantly, Coffee-less. On a Monday. Could anything ever be so cruel?

Then I was thinking that maybe I had enough change in my computer bag to get said coffee...and then I remembered that I just emptied it of all change this weekend. Why, after all, would I need to carry around $7 in assorted coins and $1s?

ARGH, indeed.

If there's a day of the week on which you can say to a coworker, "Please, for the love of all that's right and true, lend me the dough for a coffee and a muffin," it's Monday.

Oh! Good idea.

I'm off to hit up my boss for some coffee money.

Of course this probably means working extra and doing other "favors" (i.e. On-call weekend work), because absolutely nothing comes free (or even on loan)...but that's the price of addiction, no?

Working on-call for COFFEE money? Sheesh. Isn't there someone you can mooch off who doesn't control you like a boss? You gotta borrow from peers only, I think.

I should probably mention that I'll end up doing the on-call weekend thing anyway (because I'm the office whipping girl, and the tantalizing "unlimited vacation" is supposed to take the sting off the on-call thing), but this way I'd feel like I was getting something for it.

Alas, someone just brought in a big carton of Starbucks'...which is unusual...so I'm going to call it serendipity.

Yeah, the weekend thing kinda sucks, except that I get to do things like I did this morning:

ME: "Can I take Friday off...and the 5th and 6th of July?"

Boss: "Yeah, sure...don't see why not."

I have *no* reason to do so, save that working on Fridays in the summer is yucky.

One of my old bosses used to inch through her vacation days one by one by taking nearly every Friday off in the summer and around Christmas -- it seemed to be a pretty sweet arrangement.
