So many of my co-workers swear (just swear) by Airborne (this odd, fizzy, prevents-you-from-getting-sick, alka-seltzer type-thing) that I had to try it.
The verdict: Well, I don't think it does much in terms of not getting sick or curing sickness, but it does fizz--so that counts for something. It also has an outrageous amount of vitamin C (which I don't really need since I consume so much fruit stuffs).
The lemon/lime version: Tastes like really weak kool-aid. Pass.
The orange version: Tastes like weak Tang. Meh.
The pink grapefruit version: Yummy! (Of course on first tasting I thought it tasted horrid--as with all the other flavors.)
The soothing apple nighttime stuff: Tastes like I would imagine liquid crap to taste. Do not consume. This could have something to do with the fact that it's dissolved in hot water instead of cold, but it still tastes like weak, fake, bitter apple cider. The apple TheraFlu is better.
Of course, all flavors are better with the smallest amount of water possible. In fact, I'm debating seeing what kind of damage it would cause if I just put a tablet straight on my tongue. Would fizz come out of my nose?

Date: 2007-03-14 07:55 pm (UTC)Airborne works ok for me, and the PInk Grapefruit is definitely the best (I used it on my trip to St. Paul/St. Cloud, in fact).
As far as the fizz out the nose, I think it'd be highly likely if you kept your mouth and throat closed. I wouldn't recommend trying it, though...

Date: 2007-03-14 08:11 pm (UTC)I had some Airborne from the US (orange flavour) and a Canadian knockoff version (also orange) and quite liked them. I wouldn't take them except when I'm actually getting sick (for one thing, they're expensive!) but at times like that I kind of like the orange fizziness. Sadly, I've never had a chance to try the pink grapefruit flavour, which sounds awesome.
I definitely wouldn't recommend putting an Airborne tablet right on your tongue. Could be there's not enough moisture to really activate it, but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way. I bet some crazy kids have tried something similar though, maybe with Polident. Check YouTube. ;)
