Damn Kids.

We (or I should say more accurately, Derrick) did end up handing out some candy last night. Unfortunately, this didn't do much to improve my opinion of Halloween in general, and really did leave me with neighborhood disgust.
I've turned into one of those "get off my lawn" people, I just know it.
Anyway, we saw quite a few Dora the Explorer costumes, and plenty of the obligatory well-behaved, adorable children. However, there are two trick-or-treating highlights that make me want to never do Halloween again:
1. The 40 year old trick-or-treaters with NO costumes and pillowcases going around asking for "candy or a beer". Listen, it's not funny, it's stupid. You look like a moron and an *sshole. The holiday is for the KIDS, not for adults that want to gorge themselves on candy (though there's plenty of that happening at the office with leftover candy today). Don't take candy at the risk of kids not getting any.
2. The 10-12 year old trick-or-treaters that were openly SMOKING (cigarettes, not a cool costume effect) whilst walking around the neighborhood trick-or-treating. Derrick didn't give them any candy--and good for him. He said that, "If they're old enough to be smoking, they're too old for trick-or-treating and candy."
To which they responded, "Well, we're not old enough to be smoking either, so I guess we can do both, huh?"
I was really hoping that Derrick decked them--snotty brats.
So maybe no Halloween candy next year.

And I'm of the mind that adults should really just steal from their kids in the Halloween candy department.
