New Person asked to be excused from the show on Monday because they had to put down their elderly cat today.

I understand about cat grief and loving your pets. But...dude. It's a major bummer, but it's not something you have to take care of right away. You go to the one day show and then you take a few days if you need it.

I'm so so so not impressed by her

When I had a cat die a while ago, I took a day off work but if it was busy, I wouldn't have.

Yeah. I can't imagine not going to the show...and I really love my cats.

The whole thing just seems really unprofessional, but I feel like a dick pointing that out because her cat just had to be put to sleep.

I think I went to work the Monday after Jojo passed away, but probably did little more than stare at the computer. I can kinda understand that, but also kinda not understand it...

Yeah, it's hard on a normal day. If you had an extremely busy day (like you were in court) you probably could have dealt with that.

If a cat is being put down, I assume it's been kind of a long time coming. Not really a surprise. However, even if that's the case, I don't know that I would be able to deal with people for a few days after. You shows are really public, social things, right? I would want to be alone, I think, until I knew I could control my emo.

They're pretty public, but the days are also crazy-busy. It sounds heartless, but my cat surprise-died while I was on a show once and I didn't even process it until I got home.
