Horrified

I turned on the TV in preparation for scanning. For some reason the TV was on the TLC channel. 19 Kids and Counting is on.

There's nothing about their "courting" ritual for their kids that doesn't horrify me.

Not even KISSING someone before you marry them? No. Stupid. No. No. No.
One of the "parameters" they set in their dating was deciding not to hold hands yet.

I watched for about 5 minutes and I couldn't take it anymore.

Though it did make me momentarily feel MUCH better about my life choices.

Which GREATLY increases the odds--you know, being warm-blooded mammals with hormones and all--that they marry The Wrong Person and Way Too Soon.

Of course, I'm assuming you at least got to kiss, but STILL.

My grandma refused to have sex before marriage leading to a VERY short engagement and about 60-some years of an unhappy marriage. Not recommended.

Kiss? Oh PSSHHHH I almost got shunned back THEN. And they wouldn't let me marry in their lil' church either.

Which didn't matter--cuz if I wanted to keep gettin' where I was headed, I'd still have to marry the wrong person. Not that my natural instincts told me any better. But kids (cough, adults) should be able to call a 'do-over' on some of their poor early decisions.
