Down's and Trisomy 18
Jul. 16th, 2014 11:48 amI got my results back for the risk screening for Down's Syndrome and Trisomy 18 (neural tube defect). Both were negative. I wasn't worried anyway. I don't know why--it just didn't occur to me to be worried since the chances were so small anyway. I mostly did the test because: 1. Knowledge is power--I would want to know if something was wrong, whether I decided to terminate or not. 2. It was a good chance to see the baby/heartbeat at a later stage and put my mind at ease.
I'm 1:4,100 for Down's (cutoff is 1:220, so I'm good there).
I'm 1:10,000 for Trisomy 18 (cutoff is 1:100, so I'm VERY good there).
Go baby, go! Way to have the correct number of chromosomes.

Date: 2014-07-16 05:24 pm (UTC)Trisomy 18. Why do diseases have such cool sounding names? If I had a punk band, I'd name it Fragile-X. Praetor Willy? Not so much (you don't want a kid with PW)
Look. You and your husband are smart, gorgeous, healthy people. Your child will rock.
