Double edged
Mar. 14th, 2015 01:09 pmI had tickets to the opera tonight. The Manchurian Candidate. It was really good! My expectations were incredibly low, though.
That may factor into my impression, but it was also genuinely, objectively good.
It was quite nice to get out. And have wine at a rate greater than a half glass over three hours (I'm not trying to be "safe" or anything...it's just rather hard for me to get to the glass during the baby care hours. I've become the slowest wine drinker ever).
Also to get dressed up. I haven't worn eyeshadow in ages. The baby looked at me like I was mirror-mom. Derrick said that I didn't look at all like I had given birth six weeks ago. From a stranger's point of view that might be true...but I can definitely tell.
So it was a lovely night. There was also champagne.
On the other hand, I'm now pumping so I'm not boob-explody before the early a.m. feeding. Pumping sucks and I'm irritated by this.
