Left to my own devices.
Aug. 2nd, 2010 11:15 amFor some odd reason, when Derrick is out of town, I have no desire to eat any sort of meat (this is not a euphemism...).
Of course this could be due to the fact that I'm not a fan of cooking in general, and meat definitely (in general) requires more of that unpleasant cooking-thing than other foodstuffs, but it's still a bit odd. I ate nothing but fruit and raw veggies this weekend. That was all I wanted. In an attempt to add more caloric value and variety to my diet (and also in response to watching episodes of Pushing Daisies), I had a slice of strawberry-rhubarb pie as well. Then I realized that that was also primarily a fruit/vegetable stuff. Mission failure. At least the crust had a little flour/fat in it.
Perhaps there's some evolutionary gender-role throwback going on here. Since my hunter is gone, I revert to gatherer-type foods. Berries. Peaches. Cherries. Peas.
Perhaps it's because it's hot and humid and my body does not want to ingest anything but cool, water-laden fruit.
My stomach doesn't hate me yet, but it's only a matter of time. I should probably procure some protein-stuffs for lunch.
