So, Ingmar Bergman is dead. The ex-film-geek in me (actually, that was mostly inspired by my film-geek ex-boyfriend in college...but isn't that how those things go?) is kind of sad on some level. Through that impressionable period in my life I've hung on to my attraction for Ingmar Bergman films--though I don't think I'll ever truly like Fellini (blasphemy!). I guess Bergman finally lost the chess match.

I had a running joke with said ex-boyfriend about Ingmar Bergman already being dead. We would watch a film, and he would say something like, "It's no Ingmar Bergman..." and I would respond with something like, "I know what you mean, too bad he's dead." *shrug* It was funny to us at the time. Then again, I also thought my notorious impression of Pres. Bush thinking about mashed potatoes during an important Q&A session was the most hilarious thing EVER. Actually, that's still kind of funny. Anyway--the Ingmar Bergman news feels kind of like a confirmation.

Fave Ingmar Bergman movie: The Virgin Spring, though Seventh Seal is quite good as well--but that's what EVERYONE knows and likes.
