I already expounded on this in [livejournal.com profile] gwangi's journal, but I think it's worth widely sharing. For people utterly sick of Harry Potter, read no further. Don't worry, I don't do spoilers.

My boss burst into my office yesterday, announced that he had downloaded the Harry Potter book from the internet, and proceeded to tell me 3 major spoilers. Just out of the blue. Didn't ask if I WANTED to hear them, he just felt compelled to share them with me.

I'm not even that finicky about the book being spoiled since a majority of the pleasurable experience for me is in the reading and the journey--but I kinda wanted to kick him in the nuts.

He looked SO smug and superior. In this instance his need to do this is indicative of a generic need to be a jerk sometimes. My boss doesn't even (and won't ever) read the HP books. So he did it JUST because he thought it would bother people, not out of excitement or a desire to discuss the book or connect with its readers. He just loved the idea of having that knowledge and spoiling the ending for everyone else. He took pleasure in the fact that he knew how it all ended before everyone else. I repeat: He hasn't even read the HP books!

What a sadistic fuck.

I think I might put decaf in the coffee pot at work just to mess with him.
