Classy Ball
Apr. 10th, 2011 08:07 pmWe went to the Twins game today with my sister and her new boyfriend. What started out as a perilous day (Oh no! Thunderstorms!) turned out to be gorgeous.
I blame the two big gingers I had before the game for the good weather. When a day starts out with Jameson, can anything go wrong?
We didn't win, but I did get to see Jim Thome hit a two run home run. Man, the fans love him here. The ovation kept standing and standing until they pointed the cameras at Thome in the dugout and then there was jumping and cheering and screaming until he walked out smiling and waved his cap at the fans.
I love it when sportsguys are a class act.
And Minnesota fans are fickle. We love our aw-shucks-gee-wiz players who say things like, "Well, I have a great team behind me," when they're being interviewed for making some great play and are humble and smile and interact with the fans. We have no tolerance for showboating and puffed-up egos. Maybe that's why most people here hate the Yankees so much and so irrationally. (Gosh, they don't *need* to make that much money to play!)
