Derrick and I were driving to the grocery store this evening, when we see a couple of kids playing outside with their dog.

Now, if you'll recall, the kids in our neighborhood are pretty freaking special. Across from us, we fondly refer to them as "the children of the corn", and other kids have been spotted playing catch with a dead squirrel. Not the brightest bulbs in the circuit.

So an older girl and her brother were walking along with their dog. No, I should rephrase; an older girl was walking, her brother and the dog were on all fours.

The dog was running free.

The boy was running on all fours...with a collar and leash.

Me: Does she...
Derrick:...have her brother on a leash? Yup.
Me: ...and the dog?
Derrick: Is running free. Yeah.
Me: *thinking* We must move out of this neighborhood WAY before we decide to have kids.

I miss Drunk Dave in philosophical mode. And when he almost started a racial altercation while Derrick and I were trying to shovel my car out of the snow.
