Sad State of Being
Mar. 8th, 2008 11:37 amTypically, this is how movie/TV show night goes in our house:
Derrick and I sit down to watch a program/movie. I stay awake until it gets good. I promptly fall asleep during the denouement. Derrick wakes me up after the movie is over and urges me to not stay sleeping on the couch. I whine a bit (I'm tough to get up once I'm asleep). We walk upstairs holding hands, and on the way, while stumbling along, I make him explain how the movie ended.
Which he does.
Last night, I fell asleep during The Simpsons Movie. [WARNING: SPOILER ALERT AHEAD]
"How did it end?" I ask.
"Well, Homer saves the town by throwing the bomb out of the top of the dome." He explains.
"Um. . . what bomb?" I'm confused.
Usually this method works for us when endings make sense. The Simpsons Movie does not follow logical plot conventions. I'm going to have to try to watch it again now.
But you'd think that at my age, I'd still be able to stay awake during a movie. I must have inherited more from my Grandma June (notorious faller-asleeper during movies) than I realized.
