I am up, finishing a newsletter. On the cusp of another week, looking out into that vast field of Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and so on. I ended up working all day Saturday for a rogue freelance rate. Sunday was a baby shower full of oohs and ahhs and nostalgia, then more work now. As I gaze onto the horizon, projecting forth out into the week, it is a long road ahead. Meetings as far as the eye can see, days filled with adrenaline and wonder and a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants dread. Coffee daydreams followed by after work naps. (By the way, if one does not have a husband to nap on after work, I highly recommend getting one for this purpose alone. Alternately, I'm willing to rent mine out for $5 an hour--$15 if he has to be quiet and still.)
To be blunt, it's a hell of a lot of work. I'm already feeling restless being in town, I want to travel. I'm already feeling homesick in anticipation of travel--I want to be home. I fly out on Saturday. I get home in March. I crave being in over my head as I crave having a period of rest. Tonight, I am paradoxical.
But for all this, I do not envision any more half-assed metaphors, so for now, I sleep.
