I realize I may be putting it all out there, but I have to say:

Eggnog?

I realize some of you may not feel this way, but I don't understand the appeal. It's about the most revolting thing I can think of. Gooey, slippery, slimy, thick, sweet milky-type substance that one drinks around the holidays... That being said, Derrick loves it. He is gross by association, but I married him anyway.

Why wait till Christmas to thoroughly gross yourself out?

Oh, I can think of about 100x things better than either cream or custard. I think I only moderately tolerate ice cream because it's firm-ish. Melted ice cream is icky (not NEARLY as icky as eggnog by a long shot though).

I am also gross, because I love the stuff. Although, I actually prefer it to be thinned out a bit with Captain Morgan's rum. Not enough to get drunk, really, because I'm not much of a drinker, but I do like the flavor and consistency when rum is added.

I have to admit, though, when reading your admittedly accurate description of eggnog, I did stop and wonder for a second how I can stand it.

I used to watch my mom make eggnog for my brother...seeing the raw eggs and such go into there...I just can't ever get over that texture.

I think my problem with most thick drinks is that I, generally, don't add nearly enough alcohol.

I have a feeling with enough rum I could be persuaded not to care about the texture.

The stuff you buy in the grocery store IS disgusting. If you make it from scratch yourself, you can adjust its sweetness to your liking and add rum the way God intended eggnog to be made!
