Productivity

We had an incredibly productive Saturday. For starters, we both got up at around 7--earlier than we usually get up for work (but not much earlier).

Both Derrick and I got new, trendy-like glasses, and Derrick got an eye exam for the first time in about 10 years. We found out that our awesome insurance (which we're being forced to abandon in May) paid for over $150 of each of our glasses cost. Sweet. So now I have some sorta retro, less oval glasses. Fancy.

We ran around and did errands...strolled around the mall, hit a few thrift stores (no luck for me), went to Best Buy, etc.

We went to the zoo. Derrick kept ducking away as we went from building to building--all of a sudden changing direction and going to a different building. Then I figured it out--he was avoiding the annoying kid with his father (in the red shirt). The pair gave off the, "Dad has custody this weekend," vibe. Dad was tanned, buff, and overindulgent. Kid was overindulged, pudgy and obnoxious to the core. I've never seen my husband so irritated by a child, and as the kid kept ending up EVERYWHERE we were, my biological clock's snooze button was metaphorically slapped several times.

We watched The Science of Sleep. Derrick found it just "weird", while I thought it was "weird AND beautiful". Derrick insists that it be shelved in our foreign film section because, "It's like...half...in other languages." I pointed out that Babel was about 75% in other languages, and he still deemed it an English drama. Then the truth came out--he thinks that TSOS just FEELS like a foreign plot line. I suppose it does have a quirkiness to it, so for now it rests in between The Sea Inside and The Tenant.

We also watched The Prestige, which we both agreed...was very, very good. Then again, we're both suckers for period flicks.
