Respect my authority!

D, reading an article title one of his friends posted: "How to make your wife submit to your authority."
Me: *hysterical laughter*
Him: "Yeah, I won't be reading that."
Me: "No, no. Read it and let me know how it goes for you."

We can't look at each other during religious wedding ceremonies when they include the "wives submit to your husbands" bit for fear that we'll both crack up.

It's such a weird concept. Why would either of us submit to the authority of the other? Defer to expertise is the closest we get, really. That's why I'm not fixing car brakes and such. No one wants that.

But there are marriages that are like that. I've even seen them. Whatever works for a couple, I guess, but it's not for us. Talking things out is much more fun.

I imagine if you're someone inclined to submit to your husband's authority in that way, you probably wouldn't believe that anything he said/did was wrong.

I'm with you. Although I completely understand "choosing your battles", submitting is something else, entirely.

I remember someone once telling me I would make a good submissive. Heh. They did not appreciate my maniacal laughter response.

I think that submitting to someone's authority in life decisions/daily skills/etc., is totally different than SexyFun submission and the like. It's the submitting to someone's judgement (i.e. The Husband is the Head of the House) that squicks me out personally.

Exactly. (And yeah, they were talking Lifestyle at the time. Less with the Head of the Household and more with the Head of . . . Everything.)

I also laugh on the (albeit rare) occasion that some contractor dude or what-have-you asks to speak with my husband when I turn them down. :D
