I talked to four different people on the phone tonight about four unrelated things.
I feel like this is a lot. I mean, I never talk on the phone. Sometimes the phone rings and I'm all "noooooo!" Because I'm mentally unprepared to be thrust into a conversation.

One call was my niece-- shaking me down to volunteer for Girl Scout camp again. It was hilarious:
"Um, just so you know, the volunteer forms are due like...today. So. You have to turn them in. Like now."
Me: When is it, can I get forms, etc., because I've just now heard of this.

She is SUCH a preteen. My god, it's like she's possessed.

And my dad somehow conned me in to going to an antique truck show with him. I really don't want to, but he really wanted me to, and it made him really happy. So.

Also: 9 out of 10 people in the world could have told me this, but running 6.5 miles with "morning" sickness is a really, really stupid idea. Even if it was a perfect night for a run.

1) Preteens are why Electronic God created texting.
2) Is Dad bringing snacks? And bottled water?

People assure me this only lasts "a few months"...which, relative to the entire length of the pregnancy is a relief, I suppose...but a few months is a long freaking time.

1. My niece is not allowed to have a phone yet. It's bizarre. My brother and SIL have a (plain, flip) cell phone "for emergencies" but they NEVER use it. And brother is in the computer science field. WTH?

2. Dang, I hope so. He doesn't know I'm pregnant yet though, so.

3. This is true. There was this REEEEEEALLY slow runner that I kept passing...and then I'd have to stop and dry-heave a little bit and she would pass me...and then I'd pass her again (she was very, very, very slow). She probably thought I was a total douche.

I had morning sickness until about 20 weeks and it was miserable. I would stop on the way to work to throw up.

They do have medication to help with it, if it gets bad talk to your OB. I lost 15 pounds in the first trimester but I had the weight to lose, you have less cushion.

She lives in Dayton. I'm not so sure she has ANY black kids in ANY of her classes.

Auntie is not worried. My brother is, um, a little over-protective. I'll be the one she comes to if/when her Catholic schoolgirl self needs an abortion at 15.

I know, I know. Honestly, I do. My ex-in-laws bought a house in Ramsey once upon a Long Time Ago and I used to knock on doors in Anoka, Elk River....the whole of HardWater Country.

But Slate tho? That's a winner. SLATE.
